Shell GSB Ltd (Shell) has assumed operatorship, as from 1 April 2012 for New Zealand exploration license PEP 50119 in the Great South Basin, from joint venture partner OMV New Zealand Ltd (OMV).

Shell is pleased the Greenpeace protesters’ unlawful trespass on the Noble Discoverer is ending safely.

This morning Greenpeace activists have been told that the Noble Discoverer will be moved away from its berth for a short time and turned around in a routine operation to take on fuel.

We are continuing our scheduled operations on the Nobel Discoverer to the extent that safety allows.

The safety of Greenpeace representatives on board the Noble Discoverer in Port Taranaki is of significant concern to Shell NZ which has the vessel under contract.

Shell is disappointed that Greenpeace has chosen this method to protest.

Two Taranaki students are the first recipients of major new undergraduate scholarships from Shell New Zealand.
