Additional Great South Basin block for Shell New Zealand


Shell GSB Ltd (Shell) today announced it has been awarded, as operator together with its joint venture parties OMV New Zealand Limited and Mitsui E&P Australia Pty Limited, an exploration permit for the Great South Basin block 12GS2.

Māui natural gas field wins NZ Energy Project of the Year


The Māui natural gas field won the Energy Project of the Year title at the Deloitte Excellence in Energy Awards recently. Shell New Zealand Country Chair Rob Jager is extremely proud of his team’s achievement and thanks all the Taranaki community for their ongoing support.

This morning Greenpeace activists have been told that the Noble Discoverer will be moved away from its berth for a short time and turned around in a routine operation to take on fuel.

Shell has been safely operating in New Zealand for over 100 years. In August 2017 Shell Taranaki Limited took over operatorship of the Māui, Pohokura natural gas assets and Tank farms. Its share of Kapuni was sold to Todd Energy who now operate the Kapuni field.
