Shell is disappointed that Greenpeace is expressing its views in this way and would welcome discussion and dialogue.
“We would be more than happy to sit down with Greenpeace to discuss Shell’s plans to explore in the Arctic this year,” said Rob Jager, Shell’s NZ Country Chair. “We have spent several years developing unprecedented and comprehensive plans to explore safely - and we are proud of them.”
Actions like this jeopardize the safety of everyone involved, including that of the crew.
Shell has taken unprecedented steps to pursue safe, environmentally responsible exploration in shallow water off the coast of Alaska. We recognize that industry’s license to operate in the offshore is predicated on being able to operate in a safe, environmentally sound manner.
